Our Services
Systemic transformation for racial equity is not merely a statistical exercise or response to external pressures, rather, it is grounded in intentional efforts to create and sustain a culture and climate in which everyone can thrive as their most empowered selves.
It is an unapologetically top-down process. It enjoins members, executive leaders, directors, and managers to become responsible for transformation processes in their teams and communities that are systemic, adaptive, critical and most of all courageous.
Discussing racial differences without addressing the way in which race impacts experiences, beliefs, behaviour and results, leaves us with little more than what we typically refer to as “random acts of equity.”
Courageous Conversation® offers something more.
A systemic engagement rooted in skills-based practice shifts the mode of operation from reaction to creation. Organisations speak to their experiences, gain powerful insight, and build a culture that matches their mission.
This results in an environment where people of every race and ethnicity can achieve at their highest levels, unleashing the type of productivity, creativity, problem-solving and learning you have dreamed of.
PHASE 1
INTRODUCING COURAGEOUS CONVERSATION®
We partner with you to construct a sustainable value for racial equity, diversity and inclusion in your organisation. To do that, we need to know more about your people and processes, and you need to know more about our people and processes. Phase I deepens personal racial consciousness and healing, while launching professional and organisational change; each of which comes with a set of obstacles and insights. During Phase 1 we do this in three parts
Part 1
SETTING THE STAGE
Courageous Conversation® staff introduce themselves, their methods and their tools to three groups in your organization – your leadership team, your equity team, and Māori, Pacific and People of Colour who have the most experience working with and for your organisation. This soft launch develops the insight and permission necessary to move to.
Part 2
THE PROTOCOL
Through comprehensive, highly-interactive learning experiences, Courageous Conversation® staff share the concepts and tools necessary for a meaningful and sustained reckoning with race and its impacts. Organisation members learn and practice The Courageous Conversation Protocol®, deepens their “personal” racial consciousness, and equips participants to answer the call to action, “What will you try differently tomorrow?”
Part 3
THE RETURN
Approximately a month after The Protocol training we reconnect with the Executive Leadership Team with whom we met in Part 1, Setting the Stage. We aim to deepen our working relationship, establish a measure of accountability, and discover the opportunities and challenges that surfaced through the use of the Protocol®. These discoveries will bridge our working relationship to Phase I2.
PHASE 2
BUILDING KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL FOR RACIAL EQUITY
Phase 2 delivers individual and group coaching. Consulting and additional training will build on gains, navigate predictable and emerging resistance, and enable us to redesign practices and policies to create a more racially equitable, diverse and inclusive work environment.
PHASE 3
GROWING WILL AND CAPACITY TO TRANSFORM
Having established a foundation for and practice of Te Tiriti led racial equity, diversity and inclusion, it’s time to develop a scaled and sustainable legacy for racial equity. Phase 3 uses our coaching and our equity network to explore and exercise the unique ways the organisation can deliver racially conscious services to the greater society. Imagine. New relationships. New culture. New initiatives, New creative ways to problem solve, New products, services and markets.
